ELIZABETH | THIS IS ME
Elizabeth wanted to participate in the This Is Me series because she wanted to have a beautiful photo to look back on in years to come and say “this point in my life was amazing!”
Elizabeth shared her story of being in a situation of domestic and verbal abuse with her first husband. The verbal abuse led to an eating disorder and a massive weight loss. She had the strength to leave the relationship and now has a wonderful husband and has “never been loved so wholly and honestly.”
“Beauty is a kind and honest heart, being savagely grateful for life opportunities and growing from life’s lessons. It is giving back to those who need it most and appreciation of living.”
Through all our conversations I could feel so deeply Elizabeth’s conviction to this idea of beauty. Elizabeth is in the process of entering the foster care system to give children the opportunity to make their lives better than they ever imagined - and to me this is such an amazing and beautiful thing to give of yourself.
In addition to being photographed herself, Elizabeth wanted to share the experience with her daughter, for her to know that beauty is within.
“Always be authentic and true to yourself. People will like and dislike you for all kinds of reasons, but if you stay true to your values and beliefs, people may not like what or who you are, but at least they know you are honest, and in turn, your heart and mind will be content. Only you can judge if you like the person you choose to be.”
