#10 Faces Project - Jo
I would like to introduce you to the tenth participant of the Faces Project, a personal project to showcase ordinary women overcoming ordinary daily issues - insecurities, lack of self-confidence, low self-esteem and self-love, or just wanting to rediscover who they are after challenges in life.
Jo found my project and wanted to participate because:
‘With the many faces we show to the world I felt I had lost the essence of who I was. Faces described how I was feeling: overwhelmed yet appearing positive, strong, confident and in control. As a professional working in environments of high stress, subject to vicarious trauma, living with long term illnesses, family members also unwell, I'd forgotten to include 'me' in my life.
“In making a day to share and explore how a photographic professional viewed me, I hoped to achieve both a fresh perspective and allow me an opportunity to remember who I truly was and am.
“Nominating helped me to re-balance my priorities and make some tough decisions about which 'faces' were no longer helpful in my life.
Jo chose to have her photo session on her birthday – what a way to spend it! A lot of pampering and a lot of smiles. Jo said it was a great way to celebrate the day.
“It was an empowering, fun day and set the tone for a wonderful birthday!”
We created a various mix of photos for Jo, exploring the different aspects of herself – from carefree, to business, to fun loving and dressy. It was lovely to see. When she returned to the studio to view her photos Jo chose her gift photo for participation – a beautiful blue background with spill light over the top because it
“reminded me of sunny days by the pool!”
And I would tend to agree!
