CERYCE | THIS IS ME
How many times have you heard the saying "‘beauty comes from within’?
And how many times have you rejected that based on today’s pressure, from social media in particular, to look a ‘certain way’?
You are most definitely not alone. From the many women I have talked to, and photographed, this is a very common theme, and one that Ceryce has also struggled with.
Growing up with little money, Ceryce did learn to appreciate everything and work hard for what she has. She is currently studying social work while also working as a peer support youth worker in detention centres also raising a gorgeous son and supporting her husband. Phew! just writing that made me feel tired!
And with all of this, Ceryce recognises that she also deserves to feel special - and for that reason I wanted to have her participate in the This Is Me series.
I’m a very optomistic and reflective person.
Since having my son, I’ve realised that as women our bodies are capable of doing incredible things, and happiness really shines from within.
Ceryce did tell me that she has struggled with the idea of conventional beauty: “Absolutely! hasn’t every girl? It’s all the “expectation” today. But, she has come to a really great place that we all aim for - she does believe that she is beautiful because “I am confident, I am happy and I am loved.”
When I asked Ceryce if she could share some words of wisdom on how she has learned to accept her own beauty she told me:
You hold your own definition of beautiful.
So just remember all of you beautifuls out there - you are made from Stardust!
